Uniform donations slower this year.

NO UNIFORM = NO GOVERNMENT SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

&

SUCH A PROUD DAY FOR LENG AND HIS GRADUATES

Some teenager recipients from 2021 fundraising who were able to participate 2021 /2022 School year thanks to ODA’s kind donors Regarding last months newsletter on our yearly government school uniform fund raiser:

If you intended to donate but haven’t got around to it yet. Please do so asap. We do have to estimate how many sets we will be able to purchase, and order in the next couple of weeks. This is always a scary position for us, as we have no spare funds to make up the difference if funds don’t roll in. Past donors are usually strong contributors, but even these have slowed down this year. We understand cost of living is rising globally and we are grateful for any amounts which add to the pool and assist more kids, it doesn’t have to be the full $20USD. Their parents haven’t attended more than some years of Primary levels and most not even that. They used to want kids to work the fields instead of attending school, but they are now seeing the salaries educated kids bring home, so are now as keen as their kids to try to keep them attending school. Unfortunately they must just focus on basic survival at these harsh times, so are very grateful for the gift of uniforms.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND ON YOUR RECEIPT IF YOU ARE A UK DONOR.

The UK government stewardship system takes 2 months to get to us, so if you forward your receipt we know it’s on the way and can include it, but we don’t know unless you forward it to admin@odaopportunitiescambodia.org. PayPal receipts forwarded are helpful also as we receive them a month in arears too.

Lines of the needy 1925 lucky kids from kindergarten through to year 12 who last year received the mandatory school uniforms. They all know they are very lucky to be assisted.

ODA has free English and IT classes which certainly open doors for young peoples ability to win regular salaried employment in their future – however they also need at least some government school education behind them to be employable as well. Government schools cover some 12 subjects each year, in levels 7 through to 12.

More advanced ODA classes work hard to show their worthiness to receive uniform school support. They are enthusiastic students and we are proud of them.

This is why ODA attempts each year to keep as many of our ODA school students in government school as possible. If we are able to raise more funds, then we can also assist even more of the intelligent youngsters from our village communities.
