Well, the kids thought it was great fun.  Settling down under netting to protect them from insects with the ODA dogs keeping guard, they slept in ‘The ODA Chicken Hotel’. So called by Leng as he said it was constructed so well it could be a hotel framework

Do you fancy an Air B & B sleepover in The ODA Chicken Hotel?

I’m sure Leng could arrange it.

Pchum Ben is one of Cambodia's most meaningful and deeply sacred cultural festivals—a time to remember, honour, and cherish family members who have passed on.

As part of this tradition, Leng took all our boarding school students for a special night away, staying at the ODA farmland! Long before dawn, around 4 am, the students woke and visited a local pagoda, walking around the perimeter three times clockwise to scatter ‘sticky rice balls’ (Bay Ben) in memory of their ancestors, ensuring their departed loved ones know they are never forgotten.

With no human buildings at the ODA Farm as yet, the students got to experience a real adventure: spending the night under the sturdy farm chicken shelter! Leng affectionately dubbed it the "Chicken Hotel" because of how solidly it is built!

The students had an absolute ball—laughing, sharing stories, and sleeping under the shelter together, just like back in their home villages. It was a wonderful time of connection, culture, and high spirits!

Pchum Ben, connecting with departed relatives, is very important for Khmer people.

The ODA Central kids absolutely love the opportunity of a night away.

A Story of Hope & Determination

An education official in Cambodia once shared a memory that stays with me:

"My mother used to collect old, ragged, discarded uniforms and carefully pull them apart. Piece by piece, she sewed them together to make one complete uniform so I could stay in school. I was one of the lucky ones."

Every child deserves that chance—without their parents having to search for discarded uniforms to try to piece together rags just to get them through the classroom door.

Lucky to receive uniforms 2025-26 distribution, these students are hoping to receive another so they can remain at school for the 2026-27 year.

THE BIG DISTRIBUTION DAY

Sunday 29thNovember 2026

Our official Uniform Distribution Day is booked for Sunday, 29th November 2026, where hopefully hundreds of eager young students will gather and receive their new uniforms for the upcoming 2027 school year.

We’ve made a good start,

but are a bit behind last year at this time

so we still have a long way to go to make sure no child is left behind.

How You Can Help Today

For just $18 USD, you aren't just buying two sets of clothes. You are giving a village child:

 A full year of education

 A path toward a brighter, self-determined future

If you have thought about helping a student. Please act now in gifting a year of school for a village child.

These children are intelligent, ambitious, and deeply eager to learn. Most of their parents never had the chance to attend school for even a single year—but together, we can help them break that cycle.

If you would like to help an eager student to start or remain at school Please make your gift today so we can order and prepare enough uniforms in time for distribution day on November 29th!

With heartfelt gratitude,

Leng Touch  FOUNDER / DIRECTOR ODA
